WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO IN OCTOBER
From clothes to music, some of the things that make me love fall even more
Fall has finally come and for the tenth month of the year, I decided to compile a little list of 10 things that make me even more excited for this time of the year.
1. Layering bobby pins
This may be just a me problem but any time there is even 2% humidity in the air my hair triples in size, so I’ve been wanting to experiment with hair accessories to tame it as best as I can while still having an interesting hairstyle. Mixing different patterns and colors of bobby pins is undoubtedly going to result in something different and cool.
2. Bomber and quilted jackets
Depending on where you live, October is still not a particularly cold month so it’s the easiest to throw on a bomber or a quilted jacket before leaving the house. Usually oversized, they leave enough room to play with layers without losing the ability to move and look stuffy.
3. Tights
If you’re still not ready to give up wearing skirts and dresses we all got so used to during warmer months, there is no better invention than tights. Plain and simple or with a fun design to elevate any look you simply can’t go wrong with incorporating them into your outfit.
4. Hunter boots
Perfect for not caring if you just stepped into a puddle, these iconic rubber boots have been waiting to be worn again. We saw them making their way down the runway at this year’s Paris Fashion Week in Noir Kei Ninomiya’s spring 2023 collection and I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of them as the days get rainier.
5. Dark makeup
“No, the rain didn’t ruin my makeup, I like it like this!” Smokey, grungey looks seem perfect for this time of the year, as the days get darker why wouldn’t our makeup as well?
6. Oversized leather jackets
What else do you need? Instantly making any outfit effortlessly cooler, I couldn’t imagine streets during fall without leather jackets. Just like the previously mentioned bombers, oversized leather ones give you the opportunity to experiment with layers underneath them and still keep you warm.
7. Boots + long skirts/dresses
So easy yet looks SO good! There is just something about putting on a long skirt or a dress and having any kind of boot you like peeking through the fabric. Whether it’s a pair of black knee-high or red cowboy boots, it will look amazing. I wish this was everyone’s staple fall outfit!
8. Red nails
OK, I know some people will say plain nails are boring but having your nails match the color of leaves, how cute is that? They look just as classy with gold and silver jewelry, and if you usually go for fun nails with lots of colors and patterns maybe give these a try just for a month.
9. Halloween
Where I’m from we don’t really celebrate Halloween. It did get a bit more popular in the last couple of years but still, costumes aren’t nearly as elaborate as they are in bigger cities and countries. But that does not mean I don’t enjoy looking at everyone getting super creative with their looks, both outfits and makeup.
10. The Car
Last but most definitely not least is the new Arctic Monkeys album, The Car. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t listen to at least one of their songs, and it’s been like that for over 10 years so you can only imagine how excited I am to hear their new stuff! Now if only somehow I could get my hands on a couple of tickets for their upcoming tour that would be great.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
I would love to know what you love the most about this time of the year!
